10 | Markham Southwell who brought thanks from Duvessa Shane and was accompanied by the pickpocket child from Bryn Shander, named Willie. Markham said he learned what happened with Eddie Southwell and admitted he had suspicions but still didn't believe Eddie would ally with Naerth Maxildannar. |
06 | Party goes to Targos#Luskan Arms and meets Owenn Tarsenal. They learn that Naerth Maxildannar occupies the second floor. Owen tells them how lots of people come and go to see Naerth, including Eddie Southwell. Right now, Shandar Froth is upstairs. |
04 | Players talked to Eddie Southwell(Sherriff’s son) at the front desk. He claims to not know about the snake. They go to talk to Duvessa Shane. She has not seen a snake, but note she and Eddie are the only people there right now. She also notes that flying snakes are often messangers used by Naerth Maxildannar. She shares her concern about the events of the night before and other towns rising up. Targos in particular. Naerth Maxildannar is a big concern. He is the opposite seat of political power on the council. Players asked her about Ravisin and Vernice. Duvessa Shane has not met Ravisin. She notes the townpeople talk about them as if they have magical powers. They control magical beings. Angry at the world. Players wondered about her concern of Targos, what they might do. She thinks they could declare war or Council of Speakers to censor her. Trying to win over other towns. Naerth Maxildannar often gets votes from Dougan's Hole and Good Mead. She thinks he is Zhentarim. |
04 | Players notice three things at the same time: 1. Small piece of wood propping the door open. 2. Eddie Southwell is glancing at them frequently. 3. There is a letter with a wax seal on his desk. Seal has not been broken. Using a ‘wet willy’ in Orion’s ear to distract Eddie Southwell, Merken swipes the letter from Eddie’s desk: Merken and Bardley read the letter: “Rumor that sacrifice did not happen last night. Confirm ASAP. – N”. |
04 | Players confront Eddie Southwell. He denies it. Bring him in front of Duvessa Shane. Eddie tried to talk his way out of it. He was not successful in convincing Duvessa. She interrogated him. He gave her an ultimatum. She decides not to place team under arrest. Duvessa put him under house arrest. If he leaves town he is a fugitive. He walks away. She notes that he has already been under suspicion for the lottery. The letter is not enough to incriminate him. Need to find more. Drag him in front of the council. |
04 | Players see Eddie Southwell leaving town and tell Duvessa Shane. She thinks he is going to Targos. While they are talking to her, simultaneously, Merken disappears on an errand. |
03 | #Lottery Merken casts thaumaturgy to make a thunder clap. It emanates from the gallows. Duvessa Shane is not surprised. Eddie Southwell and Markham Southwell are surprised. People begin to walk out of their homes and businesses. Merken then has all of their windows and doors opening and slamming shut. More people come out. Bardley starts banging the war gong. “Towns people! We are getting signs from the gods and we need people here”. A good size crowd has formed. |
03 | #Lottery Merken uses cantrip “create bonfire” and lands it in the exact spot they wanted. Merken then weaves it into the colors of the temple of Amaunator. Garn the Hammer yells: “Those are the colors from the temple”! The people begin to yell, release her! Orion yells, “Release this Woman!” Duvessa Shane tells Eddie Southwell to release her. Jaclyn Kneescrabble begins to struggle against the guard. Orion knows (from a previous check) that she has moderate hypothermia and losing her mind. Merken uses healing on her. She recovers and stops struggling. Merken creates a thunderclap and extinguishes the bonfire. Duvessa Shane says at that moment, “ Amaunator is pleased!” The townspeople shout their approval. Bardley puts some extra clothes on her. He then uses Bardcraft to put blooms in the ashes. And it was so. Another sound of satisfaction ripples through the crowd. Jaclyn Kneescrabble asks the Markham Southwell to bring her back to tavern. He looks to the travelers and they give their asent. |
