Miracle of the Gods and Sephek's Hand
Uktar 20st, 1489 (New Moon)
The Lottery Intervention
- #Lottery Merken casts thaumaturgy to make a thunder clap. It emanates from the gallows. Duvessa Shane is not surprised. Eddie Southwell and Markham Southwell are surprised. People begin to walk out of their homes and businesses. Merken then has all of their windows and doors opening and slamming shut. More people come out. Bardley starts banging the war gong. “Towns people! We are getting signs from the gods and we need people here”. A good size crowd has formed.
- #Lottery Bardley starts making flower blossoms around Duvessa Shane. Bardley gives her bardic inspiration. She begins to talk about the gods not wanting the sacrifice to continue. She is not doing well. But she sees Bardley wink and she gains her composure. Merken makes her voice loud. As she speaks about them being displeased Merken makes the ground shake. “If you are displeased show us as sign!”
- #Lottery Merken uses cantrip “create bonfire” and lands it in the exact spot they wanted. Merken then weaves it into the colors of the temple of Amaunator. Garn the Hammer yells: “Those are the colors from the temple”! The people begin to yell, release her! Orion yells, “Release this Woman!” Duvessa Shane tells Eddie Southwell to release her. Jaclyn Kneescrabble begins to struggle against the guard. Orion knows (from a previous check) that she has moderate hypothermia and losing her mind. Merken uses healing on her. She recovers and stops struggling. Merken creates a thunderclap and extinguishes the bonfire. Duvessa Shane says at that moment, “ Amaunator is pleased!” The townspeople shout their approval. Bardley puts some extra clothes on her. He then uses Bardcraft to put blooms in the ashes. And it was so. Another sound of satisfaction ripples through the crowd. Jaclyn Kneescrabble asks the Markham Southwell to bring her back to tavern. He looks to the travelers and they give their asent.
- #Lottery Orion gives Duvessa Shane the sign to wrap it up. She tells the townsfolk to spread the word of Amaunator to the other towns. She then invites them to join her at the House of the Morninglord for prayer and reflection the next day. Merken sets fire to the gallows using bonfire.
The Fate of Bob the Glassblower
- #ColdHeartedKiller A gathering of folks are swarming to the west side of town square at Bob the Glassblower shop. There is a crime scene. Merken rolls a 1 and the guard rebuffs them. So Merkin wild-shapes as a cat and goes to investigate the crime scene. Sees Bob the Glassblower on the ground with a ice dagger in his heart. It is colder in there than expected. The doors and windows are all open.
- #ColdHeartedKiller One dwarf is standing apart from the crowd. An older (F) shield dwarf named Hlin Trollbane with a nasty scar on her nose. She leads the players to an alley and tells them about the murders of two others before Bob. She believes it was the work of Torrga Icevein's bodyguard, Sephek Kaltro the sailor. There is something off about him. Hlin has been following them from town to town. Sephek Kaltro never wears a coat or gloves. Never cold. There is something about him. She will pay 100 gp each to capture him before the next murder. Her motivations are just to have them stop. Says not to trust the authorities. Thinks he did the murders in Targos and East Haven as well.
