Letter from Thorin
Letter from Thorin Battlehammer to Garn the Hammer
23rd Day of the Leaffall
Garn, my old friend,
I trust this letter finds you well, though I know you’re likely covered in soot or hammering away at some new project, as always. It’s been a busy few weeks on my end, and I have much to report from the eastern reaches.
We’ve found the goblins to be undiscerning when it comes to their weapons. The only mis-tempering they know is when their wives get angry. I had to chuckle the first time one of them tried to use one of your spears. The point snapped off when it hit a rock. I just sold him another!
Anyway, they’re practically begging for more, so I’m sending this shipment of iron to you. We can use the unexpected gold to focus on our more, uh, delicate projects. Speaking of which, please give Elza my regards.
A slow burn, Garn. Like a fire creeping under the floorboards. By the time they realize something’s wrong, it’ll be too late.
I trust you’ll continue to keep the heat on your anvil. Until the next time we meet, my friend, stay sharp—both in your craft and your wits.
Yours in stone and steel,
Thorin Battlehammer
