Good Mead
Too small for inns, Good Mead is a town of about 100 people nestled between Redwaters and a nearby evergreen forest. This is what you might call the boonies, though not as boonies as Dougan’s Hole. Squat dwellings, adorned with carvings of dinosaurs and serpents. Every tavern in Icewind Dale is gets regular mead deliveries from Good Mead.
A two-story structure looms above the rest, its eaves carved and painted to resemble wyverns.
The town literally buzzes with the droning of bees. Good Mead is not protected by walls.

Mead Hall
Your senses tell you pretty quickly this is a brewery. A mead hall.
It has a flag with Good Mead’s Herald, a dark brown drinking mug made of a cut-off section of horn, with an antler handle added, upright and centered on a white field, representing the town’s mead exports and its cold, snowy climate.
A small plaque shows that the Hall was established four decades ago and commemorates the town’s transition from knucklehead trout fishing to its famous honey wine
There is a small vestibule area where visitors can sample various meads and negotiate purchases
Of to the right is a series of distilling machines and casks. To the left is a large, fire-heated space dedicated to bee husbandry and the nurturing of beehives.
The droning bees can be heard throughout the town, though most residents are so accustomed to the buzzing that they pay it no mind.
Speaker's House of Good Mead
A one-story A-frame home on the edge of the redwaters. Just a kitchen and a bedroom it seems.
Shrine of the Flaming Sword
This vacant building stands on the lakeshore. Crows haunt the steeple. Unlike the mead hall, which is well cared for, the shrine’s painted icons of a god wielding a flaming sword are chipped and faded. Its spacious interior stands mostly empty except for a long table on which rests a body covered with a blanket. The body is that of Speaker Kendrick Rielsbarrow, a giant of a man in his forties.

13 | Sahnar relayed the news that Speaker Oarus Masthew of Termalaine wrote to them on 1st Nightal saying he ordered militia to clear mine, they refused; that speaker election held in Good Mead was open to all residents on 5th of Nightal; and that Council of Speakers would meet in Bryn Shander on 7th of Nightal |
13 | Crew returned to Caer Konig and returned stolen items to grateful villagers before setting out for Good Mead. |
13 | Crew learned that Shandar Froth is running against Olivessa Untapoor for Speaker of Good Mead because old speaker was slain by giant who stole the week's production of mead. |
09 | Merken uses the scrying mirror to spy on Naerth Maxildannar. Sees him in his office, in which there is a large map of Ten-Towns with intricate markings, and he is conversing with a dwarf with red hair about the dwarf running for the speaker election in Good Mead and using Naerth's money for bribes. |
09 | There's Fef Moryn in Good Mead. He's a trapper with ears like an owl's. He was our scout and sneak. He's a bit of a loner. Like's the isolation. But if you can find him, he'll help you I'm sure of it. |
04 | Players talked to Eddie Southwell(Sherriff’s son) at the front desk. He claims to not know about the snake. They go to talk to Duvessa Shane. She has not seen a snake, but note she and Eddie are the only people there right now. She also notes that flying snakes are often messangers used by Naerth Maxildannar. She shares her concern about the events of the night before and other towns rising up. Targos in particular. Naerth Maxildannar is a big concern. He is the opposite seat of political power on the council. Players asked her about Ravisin and Vernice. Duvessa Shane has not met Ravisin. She notes the townpeople talk about them as if they have magical powers. They control magical beings. Angry at the world. Players wondered about her concern of Targos, what they might do. She thinks they could declare war or Council of Speakers to censor her. Trying to win over other towns. Naerth Maxildannar often gets votes from Dougan's Hole and Good Mead. She thinks he is Zhentarim. |
